Steel City Smoke Trail Launch

A NAR Regional Competition & Tripoli Pittsburgh High Power Launch
October 8 & 9, 2005

Hosted by PSC #473 - Pittsburgh Space Command & Tripoli Pittsburgh #1.
Location: Near I-70 Midway Between Washington, PA & New Stanton, PA.
Launch Site: 300+ Acres Of Recovery Area NAR Sanction No. 1001-06R

STEEL CITY SMOKE TRAIL 5

Events: 1/8A FW - E DED - RDD - 1/2A SRA - A ALT

Awards: Trophies for 1st place in each event (Divisions A, B, C, and Team), to be presented at the field on Sunday at approximately 3:00 PM

Competition Range: Will be open Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM, and Sunday 9 AM to 2:15 PM. Only altitude events will be flown between 9:00 - 1:00 on Saturday and 12:30 - 2:15 on Sunday. The duration events will be flown between 1:00 - 5:00 on Saturday and 9:00 - 12:30 Sunday. Contestants must fly Random Duration as their first timed event. E DED flights using a single E9 motor will require a minimum of 4' of guidance, 1/4" x 5' long rods will be available.

Fees: A & B Divisions $10 / C Division $15 / T Division $20 / Late Fee After Oct. 2 - Add $3

Check-In: Will be at the Best Western starting at 7:00 PM Friday evening, and at the field Saturday morning.

DRAGON'S FIRE 40

FAA Waiver: 5000 ft. AGL

Range: Will be open from 9 AM to 5 PM On Saturday and 9 AM to 3 PM On Sunday

Motors: Tripoli or NAR certified motor up through I without advanced application, J+ motors require advance application/approval, go to the Tripoli Pittsburgh website for an online application. Final approval is subject to launch day flying conditions.

Note: Due to the launch site's proximity to an interstate, the RSO will reserve the right to lower the permitted motor range.

Fees: $15 for both days, and $10 for single day flying (rates are for flyer or families). Tripoli Pittsburgh member's fees are $12 and $8. These fees are waived for registered competitors.

Field Rules: All participants must follow the safety code and field rules that will be posted. There are power lines at the edge of the field, any participant who’s model lands on these lines will be responsible for 50% of the cost of
removal. The field also has a "No Alcohol Rule" on the field before, during, or after the launch!
